I tend to live my life by themes. There’s something about latching on to a thought that helps keep me focused on what matters most in my life. There is a very real theme for my life this year: This year is the year of content. I am committed to doing everything I can to add amazing content, consistently into the world.

This blog is still trying to find its voice, and I think I got impatient this Fall and felt like I was getting overwhelmed with trying to figure out what exactly I desire this website and blog to be about. And so I stopped writing content. I literally have a blog I wrote for Thanksgiving weekend that is sitting in my draft folder.

I’m currently writing this post at 30,000 feet on my way to Seattle. I got an email yesterday from an amazing friend and mentor. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and this amazing man lives in Manila, Philippines. He wanted to let me know that he’s in Seattle for the next two days and wanted to see if I could fly up and spend some time with him.

I am so extremely blessed that I am location independent in my work, and that I also travel hack like crazy. I was able to jump on the web and get a round-trip ticket for $200 from Phoenix to Seattle less than 24 hours before departure. So I’m flying to Seattle to spend an amazing evening with this friend and I’ll fly back to Phoenix tomorrow in time for my conference that I’m attending at the Phoenix Convention Center.

Seriously…I am so blessed.

This blog is about travel. I think it’s also about finding ways to give back while you travel. I think it may also be about discovering the excuses as to why people don’t travel. I think it may also be about…you get the idea. This blog will somehow find its way and its voice. It just needs more content.

I follow a travel blog by Matt Kepnes called NomadicMatt. Matt has done more to help me personally both in taking travel more seriously as well as being the most instrumental influencer in helping me get my blog started (my wife gets the gold medal though for being my best cheerleader in life, but the silver medal is also great Matt!). I was on an “office hours” call with him and asked about how to get traction with my blog and with my finding my voice with the blog. His answer? Content. Write more content. Then, after I’ve done that? Write more content.

So here’s my goal: write more content and then continue to write even more content. I’ve got a busy travel schedule this year and my goal is to try to take you with as much of the journey as possible. Maybe as we travel together this year this blog will begin to zero in on what value it wants to add to the travel space. So here’s to content, and here’s to an amazing journey. Thanks for being on it with me…
